Ohmynannaofbethlehem.
When I found out I'd be going to a Primary School, my heart sort of dropped like a dodgy shit. I cacked myself on the weekend before, and come Monday I desperatly didn't want to go. You see, kids aren't my field.. well, I know how to handle them, I've been told I'm really good with them, Hell, I teach them in dancing. But I don't like them.
So I went Monday, and I sat at reception and waited until someone noticed I was there, when someone did, they didn't even know I was coming, the Head hadn't said anything, I felt like quite the plonker. But some kind baffoon placed me with year 1 class, I spent the week with the infants, that's a relief because most of the juniors are usually cheecky fuckers that are full of themselves because they're "big kids now".
Anyway. It wasn't as bad as I thought, but I was still nervous. I basically had to help the kids with work and that.
Tuesday was my fave day I think, :] I made a mini friend, Charlotte, she was so adorable, I think she was 6/7. But she was like.. retarded. Well she moved school to this one so she was a bit behind, so I was her helper because the class were making models of people (where you stick the body parts together with split pins so they move.). 'Twas fun.
I was on yard duty all week, Monday it was boring because I felt like a mongo walking around on my own, but Tuesday and the rest of the week I was always surrounded by kids wanted to play with me so I just taught them how to play "What's the time Mr Wolf?" :) I enjoyed-io.
Wednesday was like.. OhFFS. I was with Mrs Speary, okay, she was nice enough, she was funny, but she was so God damn freaking lazy. I stepped into the classroom and she said "Oh good, I have you do I? Thank God, I need you to get on a chair, unpin the pins from the wall, take down what's on there and move it to that wall over there (points)."
I was like.. Charming. xD Then she had me water all 24 of her plants, feed her dying fish, move this, move that.. JESUS WOMAN.
And then I had to help the kids. -.-
Slave labour huh?
But then I got rescued, these people from Kerb Kraft came, and asked me to help them take one or two children out to a semi-busy roadside at a time and ask them the questions provided, and make a note of what they answered. I had all the thick kids. -.-
First off, I had Charlotte and she was so cute bless her, she couldn't say "Pedestrian" or "Obstruction".. but she tried.. and that's what counts right? ;)
But I had this other child, Bevan his name was. It went like:
Lorna: Okay Bevan, what do you call what we're walking on right now?
Bevan: Umm.. the.. floor?
Lorna: Well, yeaah, but what about the fancy word for this kind of floor?
Bevan: ....
Lorna: Begins with a P sound...
Bevan: (After a few moments of struggled thinking) .. my trainers?
-.-
Seriously. He was being serious. Then this other child I had to take out, Ellena I think it was, the first thing she said to me was "I left my hearing aid in the classroom." Greaaaaaat.
But on the whole, it was my most... eventful day I guess. :]
Thursday was one of my least favourites I think. I was placed with nursery, and of course, they're completley unindependant. So you have to take them to the loo, never stop playing with them, which gets tiring, do everything for them. The teacher was fun though, I think I felt closer to her than other people. Amy Glastonberry. I had to write it out then, just to see if I could spell the second name xD skill ;).
Friday, I was glad of my last day in the morning, because I learnt I was in Slave Labour woman's class again -.-
Of course she had me moving stuff and other rediculous things.
At lunch though, I went to the staffroom for my food and all of the teachers I knew and worked with or seen in the staffroom were just standing there.. i was like.. "Um.. hi?" And then they gave me a gift bag thing with pressies in it and said it was nice to have me and I had hugs and that.
So happy. I had this HUUUUGE box of chocolates, a notebook and a parker pen, and a card. Plus they wrote really great things on that flipping report card xD
After my best dinner time ever, we had to go to a church to celebrate Harvest. They were all praying taking it seriously, where I struggled to keep my laugh in.
After that, at the break after dinner all the kids knew it was my last day and I had like a SWAMP of hugs, I felt like crying. :(
Never would I see Charlotte again, or Kane, or Lauren, or Georgina, or Kira, or any of the other little buggers that seemed to like me a lot. There were a lot. I attract things I hate ;) 'cept I liked these kids, they were sweet.
I'd love to go back.
I think I'll miss Charlotte, because she gave me her "lucky concer" so I wouldn't "forget her" I was like.. :'( So I made the concer into a pretty impressive necklace ;) and I wear it now xD
Ahh cheese in this blog aye. :]
Memorable parts of the weeek. :)
Child after seeing me getting in the car with my dad: "Is that your boyfriend?"
"No... that's my dad.."
Child: "My mum has bigger wobbly bits than you."
Child: "Do you have a kid?"
Me in the staffroom: "Whoaaaa wtf? Did I just eat my fork?"
Yeah okay, that one needs explaining, I was eating pasta with a fork, and I must have absent-mindedly put the fork in my bag and then I couldn't find it, so I shouted this out without thinking and the teacher were chatting amongst themselves.. and they just.. stopped and stared. Trust this to be my first day.
Aaaah such a long entry, such a short Lorna :)
Ciaaao bummies :] x
